Our Team

The people behind the rundown

Nation Rundown is put together by a team of reporters, editors, and fact-checkers who share one belief: people deserve the facts, clearly told, without an agenda attached.

We’re an independent American news operation. Nobody on this team is here to tell you what to think about the news. We’re here to make sure you actually have it — accurate, in context, and early enough to be useful.

How we’re organized

Our newsroom is built around the beats our readers care about most: politics and government, the economy and personal finance, national events, investigative reporting, and the cultural stories shaping the country. Reporters and contributing writers cover those areas day to day. Editors assign, question, and shape the work. A separate review step checks the claims before anything publishes.

We operate around the clock, because news does.

How a story gets made

Every piece follows the same path, whether it’s a two-paragraph update or a multi-week investigation:

1. Selection. An editor or reporter identifies a development that matters to a general American audience — not just one that’s trending.
2. Reporting. The writer gathers primary sources: documents, filings, transcripts, data, on-the-record interviews, and direct statements. Secondary coverage is a starting point, never the finish line.
3. Editing. An editor reviews the piece for accuracy, structure, fairness, and language that informs rather than inflames.
4. Verification. Names, numbers, dates, quotes, and attributions are checked against the underlying source before publication.
5. Publication and monitoring. Once live, the story stays under review. Developing stories are updated as facts change, and updates are noted.

What we hold ourselves to

Accuracy first. A story that’s fast and wrong helps no one. We would rather be second and correct.

Sourcing you can trace. Where we can point you to the document, the filing, or the full transcript, we do.

Independence. Our coverage decisions are made in our newsroom. No party, advertiser, or outside party gets a say in what we cover or how.

Plain language. Complicated subjects, uncomplicated writing. Clarity isn’t dumbing it down — it’s doing the work so the reader doesn’t have to.

An informed citizenry is the foundation of a functioning democracy. That’s not a slogan we hang on the wall; it’s the reason this operation exists.
